This Sunday is a special one as we have the privilege of seeing several people go through the waters of baptism. What a joy it is for a pastor to see some young folks especially who want to follow Jesus and are willing to show the world! I will be giving a message about what it means to be joined with Christ in baptism.
Romans 6:3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
About 10 years ago there was a traumatic event in Chile; as 33 miners were buried alive for 69 days. Remarkably they all survived the trauma. As believers, Paul says that we too are buried in death to our former lives in order to be raised in newness of life and to live a fresh life in Christ. And that burial brings about joy and a reassurance that we belong to Him.
