In this series entitled” Faith that Pleases God”, we have looked at how faith is defined; we spoke about how we need to have faith in our Creator; the faith of Enoch and Sarah, and last week we talked about the faith of Noah who had a saving faith.
This Sunday, we will look at another man of great faith; Abraham whose faith can be referred to as “obedient.”
Hebrews 11: 8 By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. 9 By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; 10 for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
Abraham didn’t have a road map, or a GPS system, he couldn’t even point at a globe and say this is where I am headed. He had no certainty about where he was going, only the fact that God said “go and I will bring you to this place.”
Abraham had the faith to believe that God would follow through on his promise. There are four things that obedient Faith doesn't need to know. Obedient faith doesn't need…it doesn't need constant reassurance, it doesn't need recognition, it doesn't need a residence, and it doesn't need earthly rest. Faith finds its resting place in Jesus and being obedient to His will.
