Foretold - Part 4

Hello Church!

Well...we are now settling into this winter-like weather,the official first day of winter arrives this coming Monday (lol).I trust that you are all doing well;no doubt you are busy preparing for the Christmas season.

Over the last 3 weeks we have been doing a series for this Advent season called “Foretold”. In this series I have explored some selected passages from the book of Isaiah; studying the prophecies that he uttered about the Christ Child 750 years before they took place!

This Sunday we will look at Isaiah ch.42. In this passage, Isaiah gives this prophecy as to the nature and work of the Messiah in His first Advent: vs.1 “Behold! My Servant whom I uphold, My Elect One in whom My soul delights! I have put My Spirit upon Him; He will bring forth justice to the Gentiles. 2 He will not cry out, nor raise His voice, nor cause His voice to be heard in the street.3 A bruised reed He will not break, and smoking flax He will not quench; He will bring forth justice for truth.

There would be 4 things that Jesus the Messiah would not do during His ministry…He wouldn't strive or contend; He wouldn't scream or cry out; He wouldn't squash or crush; He wouldn't snuff out or conceal. We will examine the story of the demonized boy in Mark 9 and discover how, in spite of having a faithless father, skeptical scribes, critical crowd and doubtful disciples, Jesus raises the boy up, because a “bruised reed” He will Not break. And He acts with the same grace towards us as well.

Join us on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. for “You Raise Me Up”; or join us via livestream at https://www.firstbaptistsudbury.com.

Take heart and be blessed;

Pastor Kevin
