"Fortold" - Part 3

Hello Church!

I trust that you have had a great week in your preparations for the approaching Christmas season !

Over the last 2 weeks we have been doing a series for this Advent season called “Foretold”. In this series I have explored some selected passages from the book of Isaiah; studying the prophecies that he uttered about the Christ Child 750 years before they took place!

This Sunday we will look at Isaiah ch.11. In this passage and the chapter before it, Isaiah alludes to the tyranny of the king of Assyria, but that God would break off his oppression through the anointing that would destroy his yoke (Is 10:27). Isaiah then goes on to deliver an amazing account of the anointing that will be on the life of the Messiah; the 7-fold Spirit would rest upon Him. Isaiah 11:1 There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots. 2 The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.

Where does the Spirit rest? He dwells or abides with the One who desires Him in His Fullness, who desires to live in Fervency; who knows what “the Fear of the Lord” really is. Can we as believers know the Spirit in that way? What can bring us to a place by God’s Spirit where we are in a state of fullness, fervency and fear of the Lord?

Join us on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. for “Where the Spirit Rests”; or join us via livestream at https://www.firstbaptistsudbury.com.

Take heart and be blessed;

Pastor Kevin
