Good Morning Church Family! I trust you are all well; if you are like me you are getting your first taste of some serious Christmas cyber shopping ! lol Last week we started a series for this Advent season called “Foretold”. In this series I will be exploring some selected passages from the book of Isaiah; studying the prophecies that he uttered about the Christ Child 750 years before they took place!
This Sunday we will look at Isaiah ch.9. It is a time of gloom and despair in the Northern Kingdom of Israel; the mighty king of Assyria is pillaging and taking captive thousands of Jews and exiling them to a foreign country. Yet there is reason for hope; in this same territory the Messiah - Jesus will be raised and will start His glorious ministry! What does this coming King look like? How will He establish His throne and government? Isaiah gives the answer in verse 6 For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end…
How would you describe the reign of Jesus? King Jesus is an Extravagant Gift; He is an Extraordinary Ruler; He Exudes Wonder; He is Expressly Wise; He is Eternally Strong; He is the Everlasting Father; He Emanates Peace; He Excels in Establishing a Righteous Kingdom. Now That’s My King!!
