We are continuing our series on “The Body of Christ” this week as we discuss “I Pledge Allegiance.” Last week we spoke of the fact the we are priests of the Living God, this Sunday we will discuss the church as a “holy nation.”
1 Peter 2: 9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a “holy nation” ………
There are 195 nations in our world today, and if you are citizen of one of them, no doubt you are filled with national pride. In many countries of the world, children are taught to be patriotic, like in the U.S. where they recite a pledge of allegiance.
Our allegiance, as the church of Jesus Christ is to the Lamb. We pledge to honour Him, love and serve Him with all of our heart, mind, soul and strength.
Psalm 2 :10 Now therefore, be wise, O kings; Be instructed, you judges of the earth. 11 Serve the Lord with fear, And rejoice with trembling. 12 Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, And you perish in the way, When His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.
Our pledge to Jesus is to Serve reverently, Surrender joyfully and to Submit lovingly.
