The Season Changer

I pray that you are all blessed and well on this beautiful day! I look forward to being with you on this special Thanksgiving Sunday. Here is a snapshot of what we are speaking on:

“The Season Changer” Sunday, 10 October

This Sunday we will be continuing our series “Kingdoms in Conflict.” When we left off last Sunday, we looked at Daniel Ch. 2 and Nebuchadnezzar’s dream; and talked about the fact that the secret of his dream belonged to God; only He was able to reveal the secret to Daniel to make it known to the king. This week; being Thanksgiving; I am focusing on the prayer of thanksgiving that Daniel prays to God for providing the dream and showing Himself all-powerful.

Daniel 2:20 Daniel answered and said: “Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, For wisdom and might are His. 21 And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise And knowledge to those who have understanding.22 He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, And light dwells with Him.23 “I thank You and praise You, O God of my fathers; You have given me wisdom and might, And have now made known to me what we asked of You, For You have made known to us the king’s demand.”

There are five things that Daniel thanks God for. That He changes times and seasons, that He removes kings and raises them up, that He gives wisdom to the wise, that He reveals deep and secret things and finally that He knows what is in the darkness and that light dwells with Him.

It's a beautiful prayer of blessing to God and a prayer of thanksgiving. Not the typical Thanksgiving prayer; thanking God for His provision of blessing in our lives; it's a bigger prayer to a bigger God. Daniel had experienced the wisdom and might of God. He has received spiritual insight into the hidden things of God and he was given the ability to apply these insights in his life. And he wanted to praise God for that because God had answered his prayer. So, this great prayer of thanksgiving is not a typical one. But one which speaks of the attributes and the character and the power of God.
