What God Can Do With a Few

Last week we continued our study about Gideon and talked about the fact that he was clothed with the Holy Spirit; that he was supernaturally empowered to do what God wanted him to do.

Today we want to move on to the next part of the story which is the conflict. The conflict is about to begin with the enemy the Amalekites and the Midianites who are assembling; they vastly outnumber the Israelites. He was facing an army in the hundreds of thousands.

But God has got a plan to tackle these insurmountable odds; he's got a plan to defeat the enemy. Bring in more troops? Hold the draft of all the young men of Israel? Send for help from other nations? No, in God's economy, less is more.

Judges 7:2 And the Lord said to Gideon, “The people who are with you are too many for Me to give the Midianites into their hands…

Who were these few? ; this small army of 300 who had the privilege of devastating this enormous foe? They were the ones who took no glory in the victory; Pride was not an issue; they didn’t have an issue with (self) Preservation; and they didn’t struggle with spiritual Passivity!
