“What Happens Next?” Part 1

What a year 2020 has been …I heard a radio station in their New Years Eve advertising of their upcoming program describe it like this: “So long 2020! Don’t let the door hit you on the way out!”

Although that may seem an apt description, there are no guarantees that 2021 will bring the kind of bounce back year that we desire. As a matter of fact, when we search the Word of God, we begin to understand that all of these things that we have experienced (pandemics, earthquakes, tsunamis, threats of wars etc.) are but the beginning of birth pangs of an earth that is in end time labour that will intensify in terms of strength and frequency until the return of Christ.

I am devoting the next number of weeks to a new series “What Happens Next?” which will examine a number of these end time signs that are mentioned from the Scriptures leading up to the return of Christ. The first sign that I want to examine is the sign of “lawlessness” that we see in our world today. Paul calls it the mystery of lawlessness in 2 Thessalonians 2: 7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed…

What is causing the social decay in our world; how is it that we have and are tolerating debilitating and profound social problems that are leading to death and the degradation of our cities? Paul calls it a mystery in that it is a spiritual problem that is being held at bay by the Holy Spirt; He is using the Presence of His Church on the earth to stem the tide of destruction that will one day be released. And so, it is the duty of the church to “Awake” …to rise and shine; to realize the times in which we live and to be the light of the gospel in these desperate days.

Join us on Sunday via livestream only for the first part of this series ; the message is entitled: “It’s Time to Wake Up.”

Blessings and Happy New Year!
