“Whose Voice are you Listening to?” Sunday, 19 September 2021
We are continuing our series entitled “Kingdoms in Conflict”. And over the last few weeks I have set the stage by talking about the Kingdom of Light and the Kingdom of Darkness; specifically in reference to Daniel in the Old Testament who was forced to leave a culture that was supposed to honour God and live in a counter-culture. This week, we are looking at Nebuchadnezzar’s dream in Daniel ch.2
Daniel 2:1 Now in the second year of Nebuchadnezzar’s reign, Nebuchadnezzar had dreams; and his spirit was so troubled that his sleep left him. 2 Then the king gave the command to call the magicians, the astrologers, the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans to tell the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king. 3 And the king said to them, “I have had a dream, and my spirit is anxious to know the dream.”
The king was given a dream by God about things that were to come; God can do that…make people in the Kingdom of darkness aware of what will happen in the future…the problem is that Nebuchadnezzar is thoroughly steeped in the occult: witchcraft, sorcery, magic and the like. He experiences a conflict in his spirit; Someone is speaking and I don’t know whose voice it is?
What happens when we go looking for answers from the dark side? What happens when we aren’t able to discern the voice of the Holy Spirit and seek answers from the occult?
