“Foretold” Christmas According to Isaiah Part 5 “He is My Sanctuary”

On this last Sunday of 2020, due to the lock-down that has been imposed in Northern Ont. for the next 2 weeks; we will be having our church service via live-stream only.

Today we are wrapping up our Advent series called “Foretold” with a message entitled; “God is My Sanctuary”. (To view this message, click on this link https://youtu.be/ikonULBVhOg )

Today we turn to Isaiah ch. 8. In this chapter, God tells the prophet not to worry about what people are saying; the rumours of impending war, of the Assyrian army that is poised to attack them.

Isaiah 8:11 For the Lord spoke thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying: 12 “Do not say, ‘A conspiracy,’ concerning all that this people call a conspiracy, nor be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.

This is good advice for us as well not to get overly caught up in the rumours and controversy concerning our present pandemic, but to keep on trusting in God. Then Isaiah is instructed by God on how to keep a steady hand spiritually in the midst of impending calamity. And He is given another word of prophecy regarding the coming Messiah!

Is. 8:14b He (Jesus) will be as a sanctuary, but a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense to both the houses of Israel, as a trap and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.15 And many among them shall stumble; they shall fall and be broken, be snared and taken.”

Join us on Sunday as we discuss the 5 attitudes that we should have towards our Father that will keep us on an even keel during this season. Let us continually Sanctify the Lord (set Him apart as our source of Strength), let Him be for us a Sanctuary, a Stone, our Security and let us Seek the Lord.

Have a Happy New Year and we look forward to seeing you at church on 10 January 2021.

Blessings

Pastor Kevin
