The Body of Christ Part 11

Hello Church family !

I trust you are all well...that you've found your snow scraper and your winter boots... colder weather is upon us !

We are continuing our series on “The Body of Christ” this week as we discuss “It’s Time to Grow Up”. We have been learning the practical application as to how the body of Christ functions and who the “gifted” are in the body from Ephesians 4; this week we talk about the “how”; how do we become mature in the body of Christ.

Ephesians 4: 13 Till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; 14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting,15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ.

So, what does maturity look like in the body of Christ? Is it the person with the biggest Bible or the spotless attendance record? No, the Measure of Maturity is found in “knowing Christ” as Paul did- in the power of His resurrection, the fellowship of His sufferings and conforming to His death. The Mark of Maturity is found in withstanding the “winds” of heresy that blow around; and the Mandate (or goal) of Maturity is growing up “in all things”, in every thing and every way growing into Christ.

Join us on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. for “It’s Time to Grow Up”; or join us via livestream at https://www.firstbaptistsudbury.com.
