Who Is on The Lord's Side ?

This Sunday we are continuing with our Easter series;” The Power to Lay It Down.”

Last week, in the first sermon of the series entitled, “Christ, Our Passover Lamb”, I looked at Matthew 26 and a scene from 2 days before Passover in which Jesus was anointed with precious anointment by Mary. We spoke about the fact that Jesus was resolved to be the “Lamb” who will be slain for the sins of the world; in spite of the demonic agenda that opposed Him. He was, and is the Passover Lamb; the Prepared Lamb; and the Risen Lamb.

This week, as we continue into Matthew 26; we find two plots that are opposed to one another at the Passover supper: in the first act we see Judas conspiring with religious leaders to put Jesus to death, and in the next scene we see Jesus instituting a “new Covenant “by His blood. Two covenants (agreements) are being made: the one by Judas with priests that has a cost of 30 pieces of silver that leads to our Saviour’s death; the other made by Jesus with you and I, made with the invaluable price of His blood that brings eternal life!
