“The Feet of Iron and Clay” Sunday, 24 October
This Sunday we will be continuing our series “Kingdoms in Conflict.” When we left last Sunday; God was beginning to show the king- Nebuchadnezzar through a dream; the kingdoms of this world in the form of an image or idol. The image displayed his kingdom, the Babylonian, followed by the successive kingdoms that have come and gone: the Medo-Persian empire, the Greek empire and the Roman empire. But there is one kingdom that is yet to come; that will be a continuation of the last or 4th empire; the iron empire of the Romans. This 5th empire will be the final and last kingdom of the Antichrist, that will be crushed by the stone: Jesus’ kingdom.
Daniel 2:41 Whereas you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; yet the strength of the iron shall be in it, just as you saw the iron mixed with ceramic clay. 42 And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly fragile.
Who exactly will make up this alliance of nations that will follow the Antichrist in the attempt to conquer Israel and make war at Armageddon? We can’t really say for sure; but there are some clues in the text that help us to understand the nature of the alliance, the number of nations and their ultimate demise; as Jesus sets up His Kingdom that will never end!
