“ True Worship”

Hello Folks,

I trust that you have had a good week..I want to remind the church family of an important annual meeting coming up next Wed. (14 July) at 6:30 p.m. There are some important items on the agenda that we need to discuss - all of our church family are invited to be part of this, but we do need a quorum of "members" to be present in order to deal with some items. Have a blessed week; look forward to being with you soon !

“ True Worship”– Sunday ,11 July

We are continuing our study of Hebrews 11; now we are concentrating on the heroes who had to overcome obstacles… they were stuck in a rut of survival but God caused them to thrive!

Last week we talked about Gideon; God had chosen Gideon and called him to be a valiant warrior but Gideon had some spiritual vision problems. He had some “small faith” issues and God needed to work on him before he would be able to accomplish anything great. Gideon had heart attitudes he needed to deal with.

This week, I want to examine the worship aspect: before He could do anything for God, the Lord needed to bring him to a place of examining his worship and challenging him to a life of “True Worship”. To say that there is true worship insinuates that there may be false; and that is what the Lord wanted him to deal with.

Judges 6:25 Now it came to pass the same night that the Lord said to him, “Take your father’s young bull, the second bull of seven years old, and tear down the altar of Baal that your father has, and cut down the wooden image that is beside it…

The Lord wanted Gideon to re-establish true worship by getting back to the basics; by offering the blood of the bull atoning for his sin; by tearing down altars to false gods ( false religions and concepts mixed in with their worship to God); and by cutting down the idols ( any worship that is contrived because of a desire for fame, fortune or ambition.)

Join us in person on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. or live stream by going to https://www.firstbaptistsudbury.com and clicking on live stream; for “ True Worship.”

(Social distancing and face covering requirements are in effect)

Take heart and be blessed!

Pastor Kevin
