We are continuing with our series entitled “Israel: “God's timepiece.” Prophecy is being fulfilled that is counting down to the return of Christ and the nation of Israel will be in the center of it. So today we're looking at some more Biblical prophecy, and I want to look at 10th chapter of Daniel.
I want to move to the Book of Daniel because he gives more information about a demonic agenda that is against the people of God than any other book in the Bible. Daniel lived about 600 BC, he was a young Jewish man taken into Exile by Babylon in 605 BC, he rose to leadership in the Babylonian Empire, he lived on into the Persian Empire…. As time progresses, Daniel starts to get revelation with regards to things that will come in the future and end times. A powerful angel by the name of Gabriel has come to him on more than one occasion to bring him information and to interpret things.
Daniel 10: 11 And he said to me, “O Daniel, man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak to you, and stand upright, for I have now been sent to you.” ….12 Then he said to me, “Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words.
13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left alone there with the kings of Persia.
In this revelation Gabriel talks about the Prince of Persia. Now, we think of the Prince of Persia as an animation, a cartoon character from movies and video games for kids. It's amazing how the world wants to downplay, and make humorous the existence of powerful demonic enemies in our lives.
But the Prince of Persia is actually a demonic being, a territorial spirit. He is a powerful demonic prince over the country of Persia - modern day Iran, and still at work today. There are powers that are at work; an invisible demonic opposition that will attempt to interfere with us receiving divine intervention.
Gabriel had said to Daniel, I heard you when you began to pray 21 days ago and I began to bring a message to you. But I was obstructed along the way, there was a spiritual battle that took place in the unseen realms - in the heavenlies. There is a spiritual battle that's taking place in the heavenlies - just because we can't see it doesn't mean that it isn't real; just because we don't feel like our prayers are not making a difference doesn't make it so. Our prayers are effective in opening doors to receive answers.
And that’s why it's important for us to be praying at all times - Ephesians 6:18 …” praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.”
